• IC =/= OOC.
Your character and yourself should be separate beings. While everyone may see tropes or similarities between players and characters, please be aware of this line. As the sandbox is made with the idea of voice testing in mind, please use it as such!
• Helpful Critism.
There will be no mandatory HMDs. If you would like to provide on efor your characters, you are more than welcome to. Please keep all comments helpful and not full of wank.
• Adult Expectations.
Given the nature of the sandbox, we would like to see all players treat one another fairly and as adults. If you have comments or concerns, please go to the player and attempt to work it out before involving the mods. Communication is always key in this hobby and it is the easiest away to resolve problems before they become major OOC conflicts! That being said, IC conflict is never a bad thing.
• Sex, Violence, ect.
Not every canon is happy rainbows. If you feel you need to set a warning for your thread or post? You are more than welcome to. It is not a requirement by mods, more an idea of courtesy for those players who may request it.
• What is "Lorelei"/"Avalon"? Lorelei is the name of the major city on the planet Avalon. The sandbox's fullname would be "Lorelei, the Fall of Avalon" as the storyline of the sandbox will span over several different places in the world.
AKA: this is a story driven sandbox.
• What do I do to join? For now, Lorelei is a invite-only sandbox. Members can invite one (1) friend per month. This is namely to keep the narrative running smoothly and a steady growth. There is no cap as to how many people you can invite a month for now. Please just let the mod know before you invite someone.
• New player, who this? There are two communities right now for Lorelei: - avalonianmyth - avalonianooc - Network community will be added if requested by the players.
• What is the time passage? Our time ratio is 1:1 meaning one IC day is one OOC day. However, events are paced out and backfilling and backtagging is more than encouraged. You don't need to catalog every day of your character's life.
• Will all events be story based? How do they work? No. Some will be the typical fun holiday sort, or maybe just something that spices up the "slice of life" aspect of the game. Plot events will be marked.
• TALES; These are narrative based events. Players will receive posts that involve the NPCs. They will contain plot points, interactions with NPCs, and certain areas that are available for this event. Typically, these events will remain on the post of the event. However, if threads become long, players are welcome to move them to separate posts in the community.
• FABLES; These are events that hold no plot. Things like AUs, holidays, or player created events fall under this. They will happen in the world but not necessarily affect the greater story of Avalon itself. The fun time events!
• NARRATIVES; These events are purely to give the players greater insight to the story beats of the sandbox. They will be fiction based posts that involve the NPCs that could shed greater light as to what is going on. Generally, Wayfarers will not have IC knowledge of these events unless otherwise stated. These events may carry into the other two events if need be. An example would be if an important story beat happens during a holiday event.
• Is there no "application"? Not necessarily. We ask that everyone fills out a character sheet, similar to the biography codes you see at dreamcodes. You will comment with a link to yours on our "Join" link. Think of it more as a warm up for an application, for those who are voice testing muses here.
• When can I join? We open up the sandbox every third weekend of the month. There will be a post in the OOC community when it goes up.
• What genre is this game? We classify it as Adventure/Dark Fantasy. However, there is also elements of horror, slice-of-life, and mystery as well.
• Can we suggest event ideas? Yes! Just let the mod know or post it to the OOC community so we can plot.
• Can I kill my character/Are there death mechanics? Yes, but they need to be unlocked first. We ask you refrain from killing characters until this mechanic is revealed through the story of the game.
• Can I canon update my character? Yes, but this system is not yet implemented.
• What characters do you accept? Canon, Original Characters, Alternate Universes (see below), Avalon Canon Characters. Pretty much everything. This sandbox is also meant to be for voice testing, so we will accept them as long as they seem to make sense.
• What about Alternate Universes? We ask that your AU still resemble the character's origins. If you genderbend make a great change to their character, please remember to keep them to the core of their character. Otherwise it is seen as an Original Character.
• Is there a cast cap? For now, no. This can change if one cast seems too large in comparison to others.
• Is there a character limit? Yes. Each player can have up to four (4) characters across canons. Please try not to play multiple people from one canon. We are a small sandbox and want to give everyone the opportunity we want.
Example: If you play Yu Narukami from Persona 4, please don't bring someone else from Persona 4.
• What about multiple characters from the same series, but different installments? If you are playing someone from Final Fantasy VII, you would be allowed to play someone from Final Fantasy XV. Just make sure that your characters would have no reason to interact with one another.
• Is playercest allowed? No. If you play an NPC or Original Character and for some reason they would need to talk to a character of yours, contact someone else who can play NPCs to help.
• What is an Avalon Canon Character? An original character that is natively from Avalon. You are more than welcome to bring these into the sandbox. They'll be listed on the NPC page, as well as listed NPC on a player contact page.
• Who "runs" Avalon? The Pen'Dragons have been in charge of being stewards to Avalon and the multiverse for centuries. They claim to be from the mythical King Arthur. As such, many things in Avalon will have names and nods to the Arthurian legends. If you do a bit of research you might be able to see how the story will shape.
• Can we play any of the Royal Family? As of right now: No. However, if we need to expand into the lesser known family ties to Pen'Dragons, then it will definitely be opened to the players.
• How large is Avalon? The size of Earth.
• Are there any other cities besides Lorelei? Yes, please check the AVALON page for more information.
• How much of Avalon is explorable? Areas and pathways will be opened as the story progresses. If they are new locations not related to previous mentioned events or NPCs, they will be added to the AVALON page.
